چکیده

Mass transport such as movement of phosphorus in soils and solutes in rivers is a natural phenomenon and its study plays an important role in science and engineering. It is found that there are numerous practical diffusion phenomena that do not obey the classical advection-diffusion equation (ADE). Such diffusion is called abnormal or super diffusion and is well described using a fractional advection-diffusion equation (FADE). The FADE finds a wide range of applications in various areas with great potential for studying complex mass transport in real hydrological systems. However, solution to the FADE is difficult and the existing numerical methods are complicated and inefficient. In this study, a fresh lattice Boltzmann method is developed for solving the fractional advection-diffusion equation (LabFADE). For the first time the FADE is transformed into an equation similar to an advection-diffusion equation and solved using the lattice Botlzmann method. The LabFADE has all the advantages of the conventional lattice Boltzmann method and avoids a complex solution procedure, unlike other existing numerical methods. The method has been validated through simulations of several benchmark tests: a point source diffusion, a boundary value problem of steady diffusion, and an initial-boundary value problem of unsteady diffusion with the coexistence of source and sink terms. In addition, by including the effects of the skewness β, the fractional order α and the single relaxation time τ , the accuracy and convergence of the method have been assessed. The numerical predictions are compared with the analytical solutions and indicate that the method is 2nd order accurate. The new method will allow the FADE to be more widely applied to complex mass transport problems in science and engineering. Preconditioned Generalized Minimal Residual Method for Solving Fractional Advection-Diffusion Equation

Introduction Fractional differential equations (FDEs)  have  attracted much attention and have been widely used in the fields of finance, physics, image processing, and biology, etc. It is not always possible to find an analytical solution for such equations. The approximate solution or numerical scheme  may be a good approach, particularly, the schemes in numerical linear algebra for solving ...

Advection-diffusion lattice Boltzmann scheme for hierarchical grids

In this paper we describe an extension of a recently developed lattice Boltzmann method for solving the advection–diffusion equation. Our proposed approach allows to couple grids of different grid resolutions and includes a staggered timestepping scheme, interpolations in space and time and finally a scaling step ensuring the continuity of the desired macroscopic quantities across the grid inte...

A Lattice Boltzmann Method for the Advection-Diffusion Equation with Neumann Boundary Conditions

In this paper, we study a lattice Boltzmann method for the advectiondiffusion equation with Neumann boundary conditions on general boundaries. A novel mass conservative scheme is introduced for implementing such boundary conditions, and is analyzed both theoretically and numerically. Second order convergence is predicted by the theoretical analysis, and numerical investigations show that the co...

Introduced a Modified Set of Boundary Condition of Lattice Boltzmann Method Based on Bennett extension in Presence of Buoyancy Term Considering Variable Diffusion Coefficients

Various numerical boundary condition methods have been proposed to simulate various aspects of the no-slip wall condition using the Lattice Boltzmann Method. In this paper, a new boundary condition scheme is developed to model the no-slip wall condition in the presence of the body force term near the wall which is based on the Bennett extension. The error related to the new model is smaller tha...
